Cant say no

The “I Can’t Say No” Therapy Group

Tuesdays, 19:00 – 20:30

Do you find it hard to say no?
Do you agree to things you do not really want to do?
Do you worry about disappointing people, upsetting them, or being thought of as selfish?

Many people find themselves saying yes when they really mean no. They keep the peace, take on too much, and try to avoid conflict. From the outside they may seem kind, capable, and easy to get along with. Inside, they often feel tired, resentful, anxious, or unseen.

This group is for people who recognise that pattern in themselves and want to understand it more deeply.

This is not a course in confidence tricks or assertiveness techniques. It is a therapy group.

Together, we explore what gets in the way of saying no: guilt, fear of rejection, old family roles, people-pleasing, conflict avoidance, and the pressure to be the “good” one.

The aim is not simply to become tougher. It is to understand yourself better, speak more honestly, and begin relating to others in a way that does not cost you quite so much.

What Previous Group Members Say

A few words from people who have attended previous groups with us.

I was a bit apprehensive starting group therapy not sure how it would work . But I found it really helpful, appreciating the build up of the relationships within the group.

I learned the importance of listening…to be listened to and to listen to each other. I found Jacqui and David to be very empathetic  and understanding…kind and gentle.

Jacqui and David have adapted to the challenge faced by me, encouraged me to look at myself, guided and challenged my thoughts and beliefs with a positive outcome.

At times I felt challenged, but safe, within the group. This was because of the careful guidance and support I experienced by the therapists.

therapy that works – together

Why this group can help

Group therapy can be especially powerful for difficulties like people-pleasing, weak boundaries, and conflict avoidance, because these patterns happen in relationship. In a group, they can be noticed, understood, and worked with in real time.

Understand The Pattern

If you find it hard to say no, there is usually a reason. This group helps you explore what sits underneath the pattern, whether that is guilt, fear, old roles, or the need to keep the peace.

Speak More Honestly

Many people who struggle with boundaries also struggle to say what they really feel. The group offers space to experiment with being more direct, more real, and more fully present.

Relate Differently

Lasting change often happens in relationship, not just in theory. Group therapy gives you the chance to notice what happens between you and others and begin trying something different.
