Are you stuck waiting for therapy on an NHS list?
Do you need professional support this winter but can’t afford private fees?
Would warmth, honesty, and connection help you get through the cold months?

You’re not alone. Across the country, thousands of people are waiting for help that never seems to arrive. Private therapy often costs £200–£300 a month — and for many, that’s simply impossible.

We wanted to do something about it.
This winter, we’re running two donation-based therapy groups: spaces for real conversation, honesty, and connection at a price people can genuinely afford. It’s our way of giving back and of making therapy human again.

These groups are for anyone who needs to talk, feel, and be met as a person — not a number on a list. You don’t need a diagnosis, or to have it all figured out. You just need to turn up.

Each group is co-facilitated by David and Jacqui, offering the depth of two counsellors and the warmth of a small community. Together, we create a grounded, safe, and confidential space to reflect, speak openly, and find connection through the darker months.

This isn’t a course or a clinic. It’s a room. With people. Talking.
And sometimes, that’s what changes everything.

If you’ve been waiting for help that never seems to come — don’t wait alone.
Spaces are limited, so get in touch if you’d like to join us.

Winter, Myth & Meaning

In Greek mythology, the seasons were born from grief.

Demeter, goddess of the harvest, adored her daughter Persephone, her joy, her mirror, her life’s purpose. While they were together, the earth flourished: wheat rose golden from the soil, the air was full of warmth and light.

But one day, Hades, god of the underworld, saw Persephone and desired her for his queen. He took her beneath the earth, and Demeter’s world went dark. In her mourning, she withdrew her gifts from the world. Crops failed. The ground froze. The first winter came.

When Persephone was finally found, she had eaten the food of the dead, a few seeds of the pomegranate, binding her to the underworld forever. A fragile peace was struck: she would spend part of each year below, and the rest above with her mother. When Persephone returns, the earth blooms again; when she departs, Demeter grieves, and the world grows cold.

Winter isn’t just a season. It’s a state of being, the long stillness after loss, the gathering of strength in the dark. It asks for patience, not performance. It strips life back to what endures.

These twelve weeks are an invitation to do that work together, to slow down, speak honestly, and find meaning in what remains. The aim isn’t to rush the thaw, but to notice what’s still alive beneath the frost, the part of you that’s waiting to grow again.

Hear from some previous group members about their experience on Being in it Together groups.

I was a bit apprehensive starting group therapy not sure how it would work . But I found it really helpful, appreciating the build up of the relationships within the group.

I learned the importance of listening…to be listened to and to listen to each other. I found Jacqui and David to be very empathetic  and understanding…kind and gentle.

Jacqui and David have adapted to the challenge faced by me, encouraged me to look at myself, guided and challenged my thoughts and beliefs with a positive outcome.

At times I felt challenged, but safe, within the group. This was because of the careful guidance and support I experienced by the therapists.
