Our Story & Approach To Therapy

We’re Jacqui and David, and we created Being in it Together because we wholeheartedly believe in the transformative power of good therapy. Our shared passion for counselling brought us together, giving you the option of working one-to-one with either of us—or benefiting from both our perspectives in group sessions.

We don’t practice behavioral therapy. We find that life can slip away when we become too fixated on “what” we’re doing and “how” we’re doing it—when “I should do this, I should do that” becomes all we hear. Of course, our actions matter, but they can drown out the deeper experience of simply being. Our approach is about returning to that sense of presence, which is why we call it Being in it Together.

What Our Clients Say

I was blind at the start of the therapy to how I had closed off from the world around me. My experience of grief was to close down my emotions, to enable me to cope and not to open up to being vulnerable.

During my journey, through skilled intervention, I  became enlightened how I was closed emotionally. I discovered I was guarding myself from any potential hurt or being vulnerable to anyone. This therapy has led to me to embrace openness, to be brave enough to communicate my grief and become vulnerable

Former Client

“I was a bit apprehensive starting group therapy not sure how it would work . But I found it really helpful, appreciating the build up of the relationships within the group.

I learned the importance of listening…to be listened to and to listen to each other. I found Jacqui and David to be very empathetic  and understanding…kind and gentle.

Former Group Member

Jacqui and David have adapted to the challenge faced by me, encouraged me to look at myself, guided and challenged my thoughts and beliefs with a positive outcome.

At times I felt challenged, but safe, within the group. This was because of the careful guidance and support I experienced by the therapists.
